Before You Start: Plan the Placement
Decide on the exact wall location before mounting anything. Consider three things: proximity to a power outlet (or where you'll route the cord), whether the spot gets direct sunlight or moisture (relevant for indoor-only signs), and viewing distance — a sign mounted too high or in a cluttered area loses impact. Unbox and Inspect
Every order includes the sign itself, a remote control, an LED controller, a power adapter, and a mounting kit. Before mounting, plug the sign in and test it — check for any dead sections in the tubing and confirm the remote responds correctly. It's much easier to address an issue before the sign is on the wall than after.
Mounting the Sign
Neon signs are built on a clear or colored acrylic backing, which is what the included mounting kit attaches to. Position the sign against the wall, mark the mounting points, and secure it using the hardware provided. For heavier or larger pieces, make sure the mounting points land on a stud or use appropriate wall anchors rather than mounting into drywall alone.
Leave a little slack in the power cord near the sign so it doesn't put tension on the connection point — route it along a wall edge or through a cord clip if a fully hidden cord isn't practical.
Powering It On
Most Neonific signs run on the included DC power adapter, which plugs into a standard wall outlet; smaller pieces are available with USB power instead. Connect the adapter to the LED controller, then use the remote to turn the sign on, adjust brightness, and — for RGB signs — cycle through colors. Dimmable models are worth setting to a lower brightness for spaces like bedrooms where the sign might stay on overnight.
Indoor vs. Outdoor Installation
Standard signs are built for indoor or covered use. If a sign is going somewhere it'll be exposed to rain, direct sun, or humidity — a patio, storefront window facing the elements, or an uncovered outdoor wall — it needs to be ordered with weatherproofing specified up front, since that affects the sealing and materials used in production. Retrofitting weatherproofing after the fact isn't possible, so this is a decision to make before ordering, not after installation.
Care After Installation
Once mounted, LED neon signs need very little upkeep — wipe the acrylic surface with a soft, dry cloth occasionally to keep it free of dust, and avoid harsh chemical cleaners on the tubing. Every sign includes a one-year warranty covering electrical components, so keep the order confirmation on hand in case you need it.
